I’m in love with Tina Fey’s new Netflix show “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” For those of you who haven’t seen or heard of the show, here is a super brief synopsis provided by Google:
Rescued after 15 years in a cult, Kimmy Schmidt decides to reclaim her life by venturing to New York, where she experiences everyday life with wide-eyed enthusiasm.
If you’ve watched it yourself, you know that there’s so much more to “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” than just this. The show is hysterical, the characters are quirky and lovable, and you really just need to go watch it right now. The most lovable of all the characters is leading lady Ellie Kemper’s Kimmy Schmidt. She is my spirit animal. Aside from her chipper personality, I became enthralled with (and incredibly jealous of) her amazing fashion sense. Because she was kidnapped in 8th grade and kept underground in a bunker for 15 years (!), all of her vibrant clothing choices are unapologetically youthful and with a hint of a throwback.

In honor of the fact that I want all of Kimmy’s clothes, today’s Pretty Picks is a Kimmy Schmidt Fashion Appreciation Post. Here are some of my favorite Season 1 outfits, chronologically by episode:
1. Kimmy Goes on a Date!
Kimmy’s date outfit is definitely one of her tamer ensembles. I just love how, even in its simplicity, she still expresses herself in one of her two signature colors. And it’s hard to go wrong with a classic dress/cardigan combo, of course.
2. Kimmy Goes to the Doctor!
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find a better photo of this one, but I love her skirt! I have one just like it but with white and yellow flowers instead of white and pink. I used it to create this Kimmy-inspired outfit:

Now if only the weather will stay warm enough to actually wear it!
3. Kimmy Kisses a Boy!
Kimmy pulls off denim like no other. And yet again, I love her skirt. But where have I seen this outfit before…? Oh yes, this American Girl of Today outfit from 1998!

Coincidentally, Kimmy Schmidt was abducted in 1998. I’m onto you, Tina Fey.
4. Kimmy Goes to School!
Kimmy’s style is on point during her whole GED experience. I especially love the above dainty islet shirt and bold striped sweater combination. Here are some additional fashionable moments from this episode:
This lady truly is stylin’.
5. Kimmy is Bad at Math!
This ensemble is one of my favorites from Season 1. I’ve always been a fan of pairing sweaters/long sleeves with skirts. Here’s a better shot of the full outfit:
What made me love this outfit even more was that I could recreate/reinterpret it with items in my own closet!

I’m a little too excited to wear it.
6. Kimmy’s in a Love Triangle!
The last Kimmy Schmidt fashion choice I’m highlighting is the above sweater from the love triangle episode. At this point, I’m just waiting for someone to tell me where I can buy it for myself. I can’t get enough of the fashion from “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and it really makes me want to go clothes shopping and reinvent my whole wardrobe.
