Life, Lessons, & Being All Adult-y

Hello, everyone! I am back and better than ever (and apologetic for my absence, as usual).

Life has been pretty hectic over here in Kelsey Land! So many big things have happened since my last post in January, otherwise known as over half a year ago. Before I post regularly again (as if I ever posted regularly), I thought a little update about my crazy whereabouts would be beneficial.

1.   I am officially a college graduate! On May 22, 2014, I graduated Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, concentrations in public relations and advertising, and a minor in Family Science. I’m proud to say I graduated with Honors in the top 10% of my class, with a 3.9 GPA!

Cheese!
Cheese!
The whole family came to celebrate the momentous occasion with me (as well as the now non-long distance boyfriend, with whom I have recently celebrated a fourth anniversary)

I also won an award for “Mass Communication’s Most Promising Student,” which I was beyond honored to accept during an end-of-year banquet.

Thank you!!!

2.   I got a big girl job! After I graduated, Continue reading “Life, Lessons, & Being All Adult-y”

Where in the World is Kelsey San Diego?

Summer is not summer. Well, at least it’s not the summer that I knew when I was a wee little Kelsey. Instead of gloriously laying around all day or running in circles with my playdates outside, I’ve been interning my butt off to prepare for post-graduation (one more year!).

That I say, of course, in the most endearing way possible. I love my internships. They’ve been super valuable and educational experiences, and have given me more affirmation that I’m on the right career path.

So, where in the world have I been? Ironically, I haven’t been blogging a lot recently because Continue reading “Where in the World is Kelsey San Diego?”

Accidental Hard Drive Wisdom

Isn’t it weird how we just stumble on some things?

My hard drive failed this weekend, unfortunately, and I’m currently in the process of transferring my old files onto what feels like a brand new computer (I’m going to take this moment to say GET A BACK-UP DRIVE if you do not already have one, because you can lose EVERYTHING you have on your computer at the drop of a hat). Since not all files on my back-up drive are relevant or useful to me now, I’m opening many I don’t remember to see if they’re worth keeping.

Under my Documents folder, I saw this one Word Document I don’t recall titled “Life Lessons.”

Curious, I clicked on its icon. Up pops a page that is completely blank minus one short, unassuming sentence at the top. All it says is this: Continue reading “Accidental Hard Drive Wisdom”

Welcome to The Cheerful Times!

As a budding young mass communication, advertising, and public relations professional, I have had the benefits of keeping a blog continuously drilled into my head. While teachers, fellow students, and professionals alike screamed EVERYONE NEEDS A BLOG, in my mind I quietly responded with a meek noooo…

I didn’t wish to be lumped with stereotypical bloggers, those who believe they are the best thing that ever happened to the internet. That’s not who I am; I’m just a regular person who:

  • loves experimenting with new projects
  • is extremely enthusiastic about a bizarre collection of topics from puppy dogs to PowerPoint
  • has a silver lining prepared for most situations, and will make one up where one doesn’t exist
  • likes to share things as I learn them
  • loves writing more than most things and misses having a writing outlet of my own

Okay, fine.

I decided to create The Cheerful Times after taking the time to actually explore the world of blogging. Sure, on my expedition I came across some blogs that possibly held true to the common stereotype, but for the most part there was just an insanely large plethora of thought. Whether the bloggers were keeping a professional blog, personal blog, hobby blog, mommy blog, other niche blog or any combination thereof, I couldn’t stop reading. Each post was a window, offering a peek into countless people’s unique experiences with an assortment of topics that caught each of their eyes. How cool is that?

So now, everyone, I introduce you to my contribution to this online community: The Cheerful Times.

Welcome to The Cheerful Times

This blog is my new project/adventure. I’m actually pretty excited about it! If you head over to my “About the Author” page, you will see the types of things I’m likely to discuss, which includes my hobbies, pets, studies, and other topics I find important such as thriftiness and, of course, cheerfulness.

While this blog is a writing outlet for me, it’s also an open conversation. I would love nothing more than to hear what you think about the things I explore. So please, write a comment when you’re so inclined! Whether you have something to add, a different viewpoint, or just general feedback, I definitely want to hear it. Feel free to suggest topics and ask questions as well. I’m all ears 🙂

Thank you for checking out The Cheerful Times, I really appreciate it. If you like what you see so far, please follow! It will be fun for all, I promise.

Have a good night!
Kelsey
